Media Accreditation

The Press Information Bureau (PIB), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) grants press accreditation to foreign journalists on recommendation of XP Division. Only holders of 'J' visas are eligible to apply for PIB accreditation cards.

PIB accreditation is only available for foreign media persons who live in and around Delhi. Some State governments are separately issuing press cards for media. Foreign journalists based outside Delhi can apply for such cards.

Permanent PIB Accreditation Cards

  • Foreign journalists on long-term assignment in India are issued permanent PIB accreditation cards that have a validity of one year at a time, after approval of the Central Press Accreditation Committee (CPAC).
  • For issuance of PIB cards, foreign journalists posted on long term assignment to India are advised to fill up the online accreditation form at www.pibaccreditation.nic.in (under category: New users - select option - "I am applying through Indian Mission abroad” )simultaneously with submission of their "J” visa applications at Indian Mission abroad.
  • After filling in the online application form, further follow up regarding the status of the PIB card application can be made with:
