Bharat ko Jaaniye Online Quiz (BKJ)

During the 13th PBD Convention held on 8 January, 2015 in Gandhinagar, Hon’ble Prime Minister announced that in the era of information technology and communications every year a Quiz competition called "Bharat Ko Janiye” would be held online for young overseas Indians residing outside India.

In pursuance of this announcement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) organized 1st edition of Bharat Ko Janiye Quiz for young overseas Indians (two categories i.e. PIOs and NRIs) of 18-35 years of age in 2015-16. Top 10 contestants in each category, NRI and PIO, had participated in the Bharat Ko Janiye Yatra, a 15-day tour of India organized by the Ministry. The final round of the Quiz was held in New Delhi in the presence of Hon’ble External Affairs Minister. The second edition of 'Bharat Ko Janiye' quiz was held in 2018-19 and saw addition of another category i.e. Foreign Nationals (FNs).

Due to COVID pandemic, the third edition of Quiz was held completely in on-line format from 1st November to 29th December, 2020. A total of 125 participants were declared winners of the first round and awarded with Gold, Silver & Bronze medals and certificates of merit. There were 15 winners in the final round which included top 3 winners and 2 consolation in each category.

To commemorate the 75 anniversary of India’s independence, MEA organised "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav online Quiz” for all foreigners, PIOs and NRIs between the age group of 14-35 in January, 2022. The result of the AKAM quiz was announced in a special event during the AKAM week for MEA on 21st February, 2022. The event was chaired by Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs. All 439 winners of AKAM online Quiz would receive Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals from the Heads of Indian Missions in their respective country on 15th August, 2022.

The Bharat Ko Janiye quiz is conducted to motivate overseas Indian and foreign youth to enhance their knowledge about India and to awaken the curiosity of the new generation to know more about India so that they develop an all-round understanding of India.
