HUMANITARIAN AID TO AFGHANISTAN

Will the Minister of External Affairs be pleased to state

(a) whether Government has prepared any roadmap to provide humanitarian aid including wheat and lifesaving drugs to Afghanistan;

(b) whether Government is providing humanitarian aid to other countries also; and

(c) if so, the details thereof alongwith the name of such countries?

(a) India has historical and civilizational ties with Afghanistan. Our special relationship with the Afghan people and UNSC Resolution 2593 will continue to guide India's approach to Afghanistan. In this endeavour, India has committed to provide 50,000 MT of wheat, essential life saving medicines and COVID Vaccines to the Afghan people as humanitarian assistance. A shipment of 2 tonnes of essential life saving medicines was sent on 10 December 2021 from Delhi to Kabul by a special flight.

(b) & (c) India provides humanitarian assistance to various countries as and when required.
