Visit of MOS Shri. V. Muraleedharan to Malaysia (June 01-02, 2023)

Shri V. Muraleedharan, Minister of State (MOS) for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs of India paid an official visit to Malaysia from 01-02 June 2023.

2. During the visit, MOS held bilateral meetings with H.E. Datuk Mohamad bin Alamin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, H.E. YB Ramkarpal Singh, Deputy Minister at Prime Minister’s Department (Parliamentary Affairs) and H.E Senator Ms. Saraswathy Kandasami, Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives and discussed wide-ranging issues on further deepening bilateral cooperation, intensifying parliamentary ties and exploring new avenues of collaboration towards realising Enhanced Strategic Partnership which was established during the visit of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to Malaysia in 2015. MOS also called on H.E. YB V. Sivakumar, Minister of Human Resources of Malaysia and thanked the Government of Malaysia for opening all sectors to Indian workers at par with other foreign workers in Malaysia. Both sides discussed issues of interest on labour matters and agreed to expedite early signing of the bilateral MoU on recruitment, employment and repatriation of workers.

3. As an important highlight of visit, MOS jointly inaugurated the first ever PIO Malaysia Event organized by GOPIO Malaysia together with the Minister of Human Resources of Malaysia. MOS also delivered a Key- Note Address at the inaugural session of an International Conference titled "India-ASEAN Dynamics in the Emerging Indo-Pacific Order: Pathways to Cooperation beyond the Third Decade”, organized by the High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with Centre for ASEAN Regionalism University Malaya (CARUM) and Asia Europe Institute (AEI).

4. MOS held interactions with prominent political leaders, wide spectrum of Indian diaspora associations, captains of industry, cultural associations at the Indian Community Reception. He held interactions with business leaders at a luncheon meet hosted by Consortium of Indian Industries in Malaysia (CIIM) and Malaysia India Business Council. MOS interacted with a group of Indian workers in Malaysia.

5. MOS also visited the iconic Torana gate, Ramkrishna Mission, Nivedita House and the Gurudwara Saheb Tatt Khalsa, Kuala Lumpur.
