Visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Czech Republic to India (January 13-16, 2020)

H. E. Mr Tomas Petricek, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Czech Republic is on his visit to India from 13-16 January 2020 to participate in the 5th Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi. He is accompanied by Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry, Ms. Martina Tauberova and a strong business delegation.

On 14th January, he had a bilateral meeting with Dr. S. Jaishankar , External Affairs Minister. They discussed issues of mutual interest. The discussions were held towards further deepening the partnership between India and Czech Republic in all spheres including cooperation in multilateral arena, enhancing cooperation in sectors like defence, automobile, science and technology, IT & cyber, clean energy, emerging technologies and innovation, and broadening the scope of engagement in the Central European region.

Among other scheduled meetings, on 14 January, Mr. Petricek met with Minister of State for Civil Aviation Shri H.S. Puri and discussed possibilities of enhancing connectivity between the two countries. On 15th January, Mr Petricek is expected to meet Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh and Minister of Commerce and Industries Shri. Piyush Goyal. He is also expected to call on Hon'ble Prime Minister of India.

India and Czech Republic enjoy excellent bilateral relations. The relationship is deep rooted, underpinned by traditional and historical linkages. Hon’ble President paid a state visit to Czech Republic in September 2018 and Prime Minister of Czech Republic visited India in January 2019. The bilateral trade in 2018 was over US$ 1.5 billion.
