External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar (EAM) will visit Bangladesh from 19-21 August, 2019. This is Dr. Jaishankar’s first visit to Bangladesh as the External Affairs Minister, and is also the first visit of a Union Cabinet Minister of India to Bangladesh
after the new government was sworn in India. The visit reflects the highest priority India attaches to its bilateral relationship with Bangladesh, which the two countries describe as transcending a strategic partnership.
During the visit, the External Affairs Minister will meet Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and hold discussions with his counterpart Dr. A K Abdul Momen, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. The two sides will discuss the gamut of bilateral relations,
including resumption of contact at the highest levels, following the completion of national elections in both countries.
