At the invitation of External Affairs Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Mozambique, H.E. Mr. Oldemiro Baloi, will pay an official visit to India from 23 – 29 November, 2014. He will be accompanied by senior officers
of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mozambique.
During the visit, Mr. Baloi will hold talks with External Affairs Minister and hold other meetings. He will also deliver a lecture at the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) on the topic "Perspectives on Mozambican Foreign Policy”.
India and Mozambique share warm and friendly relations. With bilateral trade of over US$ 1.5 billion in 2013-14, India is among the top five trading partners of Mozambique. Mozambique is the third largest recipient of concessional lines of credit (LOCs) from
India, amounting to US$ 639.44 million during the period 2004-2013. India is also a major investment partner of Mozambique. A large number of Indian public and private sector companies have invested in Mozambique, including in energy sector. Under Indian Technical
and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programmes, a number of Mozambican experts are trained in Indian institutions. Further, many Mozambican students pursue higher education in Indian universities.
The two countries also share commonality of views on a variety of issues of regional and global importance. Mozambique has also extended its support for India’s candidature in a reformed UN Security Council.
The visit of Foreign Minister Baloi will give a new impetus to further expansion and deepening of India-Mozambique relations.
