1st India-Bolivia Foreign Office Consultations held at La Paz, Bolivia

The 1st Foreign Office Consultations between the Republic of India and the Plurinational State of Bolivia were held in La Paz on 20th November 2014. The Indian delegation was led by Shri R. Swaminathan, Special Secretary (Americas & CPV) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, and the Bolivian delegation was led by Mr. Juan Carlos Alurralde Tejada, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia.

The talks were held in a cordial atmosphere and covered the entire range of bilateral relations including political, commercial, investment and technical cooperation. Both sides acknowledged that the current level of their linkages, especially economic, did not reflect the true potential which held great promise. They agreed to work closely to realize this potential and remove obstacles that stand in the way. A number of new areas of possible cooperation were identified.

The two sides also exchanged views on issues of regional and international importance.

Shri Swaminathan also called on His Excellency Mr. David Choquehuanca, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia.

Leaders of both delegations expressed satisfaction at the successful holding of the 1st Foreign Office Consultations and agreed to convene the next round in New Delhi at a mutually convenient date.
