Smt. Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of India attended the second BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Pretoria, South Africa on 4 June 2018.
The Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, Ms. Lindiwe Sisulu, Chaired the meeting, that was also attended by the Foreign Minister of Russian Federation Mr. Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic
of China, Mr. Wang Yi, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Relations of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Mr. Marcos Bezerra Abbott Galvao. A Media Statement was issued after the meeting.
Earlier, EAM called on President of South Africa, Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa on 3rd June 2018. Both leaders exchanged views on upcoming Johannesburg BRICS Summit and on matters of bilateral importance.
EAM exchanged views with BRICS Ministers on matters of global political, economic, and security significance.
EAM was briefed on preparations for the upcoming Johannesburg 10th BRICS Summit on 25-27 July, 2018.
South Africa’s Foreign Minister hosted a dinner in honour of BRICS Foreign Ministers on 3rd June, 2018.
EAM extended India’s full support to South Africa for a successful Johannesburg BRICS Summit in July 2018.
