RELATIONS BETWEEN INDIA AND CANADA

Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state :-
(a) the number of Hindus and Sikhs presently studying in Canada;
(b) whether the Government has raised the issue of hate comments/ statements against Hindus with the Government of Canada, if so, the details thereof; and
(c) whether any assessment has been made about the likely impact to the Indian Trade due to strained relations between India and Canada and if so, the details thereof indicating the exports from our country to Canada likely to be affected?

(a to c) It is estimated that there are 2,30,000 Indian students in Canada.
Safety of Indian nationals in foreign countries, including students, is of utmost priority for the Government of India. Government has been taking up with the Government of Canada reported incidents against Indian nationals in Canada, including hate crimes. The Canadian authorities are asked to investigate such incidents and hold the perpetrators accountable.
As per the available data, our bilateral trade with Canada and exports to Canada have registered an increase in 2023, compared to the volume of trade and exports in 2022.
