STUDENTS STUDYING ABROAD

Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has maintained any data of students enrolled in different subjects including medical courses and engineering, abroad;
(b) if so, the details thereof during the last three years and the current year, country-wise and State/UT-wise including Bihar;
(c) the number of students studying medicine and engineering abroad, country-wise and discipline-wise; and
(d) the number of Indians returning home from abroad under Vande Bharat Mission, State/UT-wise including Bihar?

(a) to (c) The Government of India has the details of the numbers of students leaving India for educational purposes. Such data is maintained by Bureau of Immigration based on students exiting India. As per the information received from Bureau of Immigration, the country-wise details of number of students who proceeded abroad for studies during the last three years and the current year is placed at Annexure-I
.
(d) As on 21st March, 2022, 3.09 Crores passengers including from Bihar (in-bound and out-bound) have been facilitated in the flights operated under the VBM and Air Bubble Arrangements.
