WORLD HINDI DAY
6310. SHRI C. MAHENDRAN:
Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is observing World Hindi Day annually and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government has conducted special events to spread the greatness of the language through its missions abroad;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the World Hindi Day celebration has promoted the language at the global stage; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c) World Hindi Day is observed by the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian Missions/Posts abroad every year on 10th January. Activities to promote Hindi like Hindi Essay Competition, Hindi Quiz, Hindi Poetry Competition etc. are organised by the
Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi and by Indian Missions/Posts abroad to mark World Hindi Day.
(d) & (e) Celebration of World Hindi Day has helped in popularizing and promoting Hindi on the global stage and increasing interest in learning Hindi language in foreign countries.
