Visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece to India (November 25-28, 2017)

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, H.E. Mr. Nikos Kotzias, is visiting India from 25-28 November 2017. He is accompanied by senior officials of his Ministry. The visit of the Greek Foreign Minister is a part of the regular high-level exchanges between the two countries.

FM Kotzias had a meeting with External Affairs Minister, Smt Sushma Swaraj, in New Delhi on 27 November. The two Ministers held discussions on various aspects of bilateral ties as well as important regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest. The discussions between the two Ministers focused on building closer cooperation in the areas of trade & investment, trade fairs, agriculture, maritime sector, culture and tourism. During the visit, the two Ministers signed the Air Services Agreement and the Memorandum of Understanding on Co-operation in the field of New and Renewable Energy.

Ties between Indians and Greeks in the sphere of trade, art and culture go back to historical times. India and Greece enjoy close bilateral relations and substantial economic ties with annual bilateral trade of US$ half a billion. Indian companies have established their presence in infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and steel sectors in Greece while the Greek companies are present in the fields of IT and construction in India. The sectors such as agriculture, shipping and tourism also offer scope for cooperation.

FM Kotzias also delivered a lecture at Observer Research Foundation, New Delhi, on 27 November 2017.
